Maine and New Hampshire Water Mitigation and Restoration Services

Magic Carpet, Cleaning & Restoration offers Portland Water Restoration & Emergency Water Damage Services. We have the most modern and energy efficient equipment available to solve these problems.

We first ask the homeowner/business owner to remove as much as possible from the affected area and to elevate all furniture off the carpeting to avoid further damage.

It usually is a very good idea to open the windows since the Rh outside is probably lower than it is on the inside.  Then we extract the water that is left behand in the carpet and the pad.  After we have extracted as much as we possibly can we install a turbo dryer(s) underneath the carpet (We lift the edge or seam) to float the carpet, separating the carpet and pad from each other and then forcing all the water out of the floor and into the air.  The carpet is literally floating over the pad.

Next we set up dehumidifier(s) to remove all excess water that is being forced into the air by the turbo dryer(s). The carpeting is then treated with Microban, a product that kills mold and mildew.

We monitor our water restoration services on a daily basis to track the needs to add/remove equipment ensuring a quality job.

On top of the above services, we recommend when the carpeting is completely dry, we do a complete carpet cleaning job to the water damaged area to restore your carpeting back to what it was before the damage occured.

Categories of Water

There are three categories of water that cause damage in commercial buildings and homes.

Category 1 Water - That which is clean at the releasing source and does not pose a hazard if consumed by humans. Category 1 water may become progressively contaminated as it mixes with soils on or within floor coverings or building assemblies (walls, decking, subflooring). Time and temperature, which promote the growth and amplification of microorganisms in water can cause Category 1 water to degrade. Examples: burst water pipes, failed supply lines on appliances, vertically falling rainwater.

Category 2 Water - That which begins with some degree of contamination and could cause sickness or discomfort if consumed by humans. As with Category 1 water, time and temperature can cause Category 2 water to become progressively more contaminated.

Category 3 Water - That which is highly contaminated and could cause death or serious illness if consumed by humans. Examples: sewage, rising flood water from rivers and streams, ground surface water flowing horizontally into homes.

When any of these occur call Magic Carpet immediately at 767-1359 to avoid further damage to your property and to avoid mold growth!
